Thursday, May 28, 2009 my new best friend. When you think your hometown is boring, this website definitely adds more excitement to your life. So a mini yelp via blog...

(1/2 sandwich & chowder, calamari in the far back)

Fisherman's Grotto on the Fisherman's Wharf

I usually just get a cup of the chowder and bounce, but this was my first time actually dining in at the restaurant. It definitely captures the ESSENCE OF MONTEREY: Touristy, average seafood, & a little old fashioned American.

The chowder was bomb, but the sandwich was disappointing. Cold shrimp in a creamy mystery sauce. Maybe it just needed more veggies for my taste.

ANYWAY, if you ever hit up Monterey bay ever (or home), get thissss. This chowder has definitely been taken for granted and I feel has been under-appreciated.
